first off, let me say hello! welcome to my new blog; the many days and nights of a cosplaying crazygurlie. yes that isn't what it says at the top, but that is in all actuality what i shall be up to for the next few months.
every year here in toronto there is a giant expo that combines sci-fi, gaming, horror, comics, and anime together to create: Fanexpo (this year stan lee will be attending. totally awesome!). for the past few years that i've been attending i always get to see fantastic cosplay (and will admit that am harsh towards some.... particularly those that portray my favourite character and give her a bad name *coughcoughaerithcoughcough*). last year i had finally decided that i would join in the fun and attend this year's 2010 expo with my best cosplay forward. well.. i can tell you now that i got super duper lazy and then didn't have the funds to get it going so i gave up on that rather quickly.
.... then, until recently, that all changed. i got bored and started to browse online at websites and then i came upon some cosplay done of ffxiii's lighthing. alan and i have been playing it for the last few months whenever we have the time (still have to finish it), but she is a pretty cool character (think female version of cloud). anyways, while playing i always thought her outfit was pretty cool and i decided that this year i would instead cosplay her!!
here she is in all her glory.
Well, it's all fine and dandy... but as you can see some work needs to be done. and while i am quite lackluster in the use of a sewing machine and such i am determined to do this. but there is just one problemo. her weapon of choice is called a gunblade (just as the name states, it's a sword but also a workable gun). now, her weapon is pretty damn kickass.... the only problem is is that it transforms.
yes... it's a little tough to see it in all it's glory when it's cut off..
boom muthaf**ka!
thus comes to my real deliemma. how to make her gunblade. after days of searching i finally came across someone who attempted to make it and with the brainpower of myself and mainly alan we have designed our actual WORKING gunblade (working as in.. moving).
anyway. we have been making the prototype of the gunblade over the weekend and have been cutting and drawing and squinting and it's paid off.... right now we've made it out of paper and bristol board, but soon it will be transfered onto wood and the real fun will begin!
so until next time. here are a few pictures of our work in progress! enjoy ^-^
there are still a few things we need to fix up, but these are just the prototypes until we start the real thing!
